The Gesellschaft der Bibliophilen (Society of Bibliophiles) has edited the annual journal IMPRIMATUR, founded in 1930, since 1937. This longstanding, traditional publication is richly illustrated and contains contributions covering a large range of topics relevant to collectors, book enthusiasts and bibliophiles. For instance, IMPRIMATUR offers readers exclusive insights into private and public book collections, both historical and present-day. The collections presented range from incunabula to dime novels, comic books and paperbacks. Trends in book illustration, book design and bookbinding from the early modern period until today are also discussed, as are issues relating to book history from the perspective of cultural and art history as well as the history of ideas. Additionally, typographers and prominent collectors throughout history are presented.
