The Journal of Asian History, an independent, international journal now in its 43th year of publication, covers historical research on any period and all regions of Asia with the exception of the Ancient Near East. It welcomes manuscripts, preferably written in English, that make use of primary sources on any aspect of East Asian, South Asian, Southeast Asian, Inner Asian, and Middle Eastern history. The word history is taken in its broadest sense, comprising all the disciplines of the social sciences and humanities when concerned with the elucidation of the past. It appears twice yearly.
