Journal of the Hellenic Institute of Egyptology
The Journal of the Hellenic Institute of Egyptology is published annually in a fascicle jointly by the Hellenic Institute of Egyptology (Athens, Hellas), ᶜAin Shams University (Cairo, Egypt) and by the Archaeological Society of Alexandria (Alexandria, Egypt). The aim of JHIE is based on the principles of Humanism and the desire for international synergies and cooperation between colleagues of different nationalities, which characterize both the Institute, the Society and the Department of Tourist Guidance of the Faculty of Arts of ᶜAin Shams University. It provides a modern scientific forum for the discussion of a variety of aspects, notions and facets from various domains of Egyptology, Archaeoastronomy and Archaeology, with emphasis on the religion, funerary texts, language and scripts, Epigraphy, Papyrology, Sciences (Astronomy, Mathematics, Botany, Chemistry, Architecture, Materials and Technology, & c.) of ancient Egypt as well as Helleno-Roman Archaeology related to Egypt; Coptology is also well represented.
Interdisciplinarity and the harmonious interactions between various academic fields and disciplines are highly desirable, as is a general emphasis on the cooperation between countries across the Mediterranean Basin, encompassing studies of individual civilizations, particularly those related to ancient Egypt and Hellas as well as common elements, contacts and interactions among them. The Journal of the Hellenic Institute of Egyptology is double-blindly peer-reviewed.
