Jahrbuch der Gutenberg-Gesellschaft
Edited by Stephan Füssel
The Gutenberg Yearbook is considered the central academic publication medium of international Gutenberg research. It was brought into being in 1926 by Aloys Ruppel in the name of the Gutenberg Society who, since that time, acts as the editor. Each of the high-quality fitted volumes contains around 30 professional contributions in German, English, French, Italian, or French. The academically responsible editor of the yearbook is the head of the Institute of Book Studies of the Johannes Gutenberg University Mainz, Professor Dr. Gerhard Lauer.
Alongside contributions to life and work of Gutenberg and results of research on incunabula, a wide spectrum of topics is covered in this yearbook: history of book printing from the beginnings until present times, history of paper, history of libraries, history of book trade and publishers, history of script, modern composition and printing methods, development in typography and new media, book illustration, book binding, newspaper and press, literary reports on book printing and studies in binding. Although observing academic standards, the editors look after it that interested laypersons will be able to read the book, drawing joy and benefit from it.
