Menes - Studien zur Kultur und Sprache der ägyptischen frühzeit und des Alten Reiches
Edited by Eva-Maria Engel und Jochem Kahl
The Early Dynastic Period is the epoch in which main aspects of ancient Egypt were developed: architecture, writing, organization of economy, the canon of elite self-expression, objects of daily life, and much more, but these beginnings are still sometimes difficult for us to recognize. In the Old Kingdom, these elements experience a first wider diffusion and are thus more visible. The series Menes. Studien zur Kultur und Sprache der ägyptischen Frühzeit und des Alten Reiches (Studies on Culture and Language of the Early Egyptian Period and the Old Kingdom), founded in 2005, aims to bring together contributions on both periods, dealing with individual aspects but also with overarching themes. So far, the series includes monographs and collected works dealing with archaeological findings, as well as a grammar or a study on the emergence of the Egyptian state. Engel, Eva-Maria
