Mentor - Studien zu Metallarbeiten und Toreutik der Antike
Edited by Reinhard Stupperich and Richard Petrovszky
This series will contain studies on antique creations made of bronze, silver and other metals, such as figures, instruments, or vessels, that is, on toreutics in antiquity. The name of the series refers to Mentor as being the greatest artist in the area of toreutics; of his creations, mostly silver vessels, especially with figural reliefs, but also bronze sculptures have been conserved.
The series will mainly be concerned with metalwork from the imperial era. However, since Roman toreutics was strongly dependent on Greek toreutics, Greek creations shall by no means be excluded. Contributions may be museum catalogs on antique bronzes and doctoral dissertations dealing with larger topics but also detailed special studies on certain single issues.
