From Periphery to Partnership is an interdisciplinary collection of articles devoted to the social, economic, political and cultural consequences of Russian aggression against Ukraine. The publication begins with an assessment of the current state of research on relations between Ukraine and Poland in the 21st century.
The following articles focus on Russian aggression against Ukraine as an experience that has resulted in forced migration, accelerated adaptation to new places of residence, and threats to the humanitarian security of the population remaining in Ukraine. The authors then discuss the systemic transformations taking place in the context of war, including reforms of the state apparatus, the economy, the labour market, and the energy sector. The volume also presents analyses of legislative changes after 2014, strategies for the functioning of enterprises during wartime, and human resource management in conditions of uncertainty and accelerated digitalization. A key theme addressed in the texts is the understanding of migration not only as a consequence of war, but also as a potential resource for Ukraine’s post-war economic and social reconstruction. The systemic analyses are complemented by studies of cultural practices, everyday forms of society’s adaptation to the realities of war, and reflections on historical memory and narratives about the Soviet past. The publication as a whole forms a coherent analytical framework that integrates research approaches at micro, meso and macro levels on current transformation processes in Ukraine.
