This is a companion series to the main series, Semitica Viva. It contains textbooks of non-written Semitic languages and dialects which facilitate a more in-depth study of the respective varieties. All textbooks conform to the same academic standards as the main series. While some of the varieties covered are mainly of scholarly interest (e.g., Maaloula Aramaic), others are also of considerable practical importance (e.g., Damascus Arabic). Several volumes are in preparation, e.g. textbooks of Casablanca Arabic, Tunis Arabic and Mehri (new South Arabic).
