The Mainzer Veröffentlichungen zur Byzantinistik (Mainz Publications on Byzantine Studies) constitute an internationally-oriented series that offers on the one hand a platform for publications written by or with the collaboration of the working group on Byzantine Studies at the Department of History at the Johannes Gutenberg University in Mainz. At the same time, this series is open to works written elsewhere that reference Byzantium, from the fields of history, philology, and art history. The volumes of the series (in German or English) consist of monographs as well as edited volumes. Each German monograph is accompanied by an English summary, and correspondingly an English publication will contain a German abstract.
