In September of 2018, from the 10th to the 12th, the members of the Polyslav Association of Slavists gathered for the 22nd annual International Academic Conference of the Polyslav Association. The conference was held at the Faculty of Philology at the University of Łódź, Poland. Polyslav-XXII was attended by over 70 participants from research centres established in ten countries.
The present proceedings contain 31 papers in six Slavic languages (Polish, Serbian, Slovak, Slovenian, Russian, and Ukrainian), eight in English, and two in German. All 41 contributions – devoted to a vast variety of topics, including, for instance, the use of gestures in teaching pronunciation in Polish as a foreign language, the language policy of Ukrainian television, the declension of new vocabulary in the Slovenian language, and the Slavonic root “-gnev-” in Russian, Czech, and Sorbian – meet basic publishing standards and international editorial conventions, including a double-blind peer review. A total of 75 reviewers – 69 from Europe and 6 from the USA – guarantee a high scientific level for the published papers. |
