Herausgegeben von Melanie Malzahn (University of Vienna), Nina Mirnig (Austrian Academy of Sciences), Bernhard Palme (University of Vienna), Robert Rollinger (Editor in chief, University of Innsbruck), Kai Ruffing (University of Kassel) and Florian Schwarz (Austrian Academy of Sciences) und Sören Stark (ISAW, NYU)
AFEURTRANS is based on its interdisciplinary diversity and wide spectrum. It focuses on Ancient Worlds in their broadest sense and transcends the traditional boundaries of academic disciplines as established in the 19th century. The new series underlines and highlights the multiple aspects of connectivity that united Ancient Worlds, both prehistoric and historic. It makes use of new methodological concepts for approaching and studying ancient cultures. Central geographical areas of research are Africa, the Middle East, Central Asia, South Asia and East Asia, as well as the Mediterranean basin. Ancient Worlds are no longer regarded as predecessors of Western-European history, but as an essential part of a globally connected world history. AFEURTRANS offers a new understanding of Ancient World Studies. It addresses the many challenges of a globalized world of the 21st century CE and views Ancient Worlds and Archaeology in the context of multi-faceted, worldwide interaction. By doing so, the series contributes new perspectives for better understanding of the present by thoroughly analyzing its interconnected past. The series is peer-reviewed.
