This volume contains 20 colour photomontages presenting the most interesting and best-preserved scenes from the reconstructed decoration of three rooms in the Temple of Thutmose III at Deir el-Bahari, originally published in the volume Deir el-Bahari IX.
The scenes are supplemented by an analysis of their decoration, and the work concludes with three appendices: an index of scenes in the discussed rooms, an overview of royal crowns and headdresses and their relationship to the ceremonial beard, and an identification of birds in the temple’s sacrificial piles. The presented material illustrates the richness of the relief decoration's colours, which have remained excellently preserved despite having been buried beneath a rockfall for three thousand years. |
