Lun Wen - Studien zur Geistesgeschichte und Literatur in China
Edited by Hans van Ess, Roderich Ptak and Thomas O. Höllmann
The title of the series Lun Wen may best be translated as „Discussing literature/culture“. This title was used by Cao Pi in the third century BCE as a heading for one of the major ancient Chinese treatises on literary theory. In modern Chinese, lunwen has the meaning of „essay“. The editors of this series have aimed at creating a platform for publishing sinological texts on classical Chinese literary and cultural tradition unparalleled in the Western world. The series assembles works on Chinese literature and history of ideas as well as historiography of all periods of Chinese tradition, written in the major languages of European sinological tradition, mostly English, French and German. A major focus lies on the history of imperial China which spans more than two thousand years.
